Songs About Children Songs About Growing Up I’ve tried to keep a majority of these as “mainstream” without digging too deep. Although many are listed here, there have got to many tons more out there. These are NOT necessarily songs FOR children (although some are) or BY children (although there are a few sung by kids or excerpts within the songs). Keep in mind that these are songs ABOUT kids and childhood experiences. You’ll find a wide array and variety of these songs – from several decades of music – in the list below to choose from to put to your ipod, music player, burn to CD, or whatever else your intentions may be. There are many songs out their about children – both happy and sad – good times and bad times as life is unpredictable – many about growing up – by a huge plethora of songwriters and musical artists. Songs about growing up is an ideal way of getting your feelings to reach the heart of the listener. Certain songs will reflect certain moments and times in your lives. Music is a great way to express those emotions at various stages of your child or children’s growth. We watch our children growing up in oh so many ways including when your little baby begins to crawl – When your toddler begins to take those first few steps – When you hear the first word spoken by your baby – When you send your little one off to their first day of kindergarten at school – When your child stars to socialize and make his or her first friend – When your adolescent becomes a teenager and the big jump from elementary school to high school – That first dance or prom – That first job – The magic milestone ages of 16, 18 and 21 – Graduation day is another extraordinary moment – basically the transition from youth heading out into the adult world… some to a higher education… some into military service… some into full-time work. Sometimes, on the inside, you kind of wish the time to slow down or freeze on those special moments in life – for your children to enjoy those carefree years of kids simply being kids… before all those responsibilities and obligations kick in as adulthood approaches. On the other hand they know how to push our buttons… and over time become very good and adept at it □ We set boundaries and limits… always trying to look out for their best interest and well-being. We take much pride in their endeavors, accomplishments and achievements. We look forward to and remember the milestones they reach as they are growing up. We nurture them and give words of praise and encouragement. Children have a way of bringing out many of our strongest human emotions and feelings that range from pride to worry, happiness to sadness, hopes to fears, satisfaction to tension, agitation to frustration and so on. especially those formative years of growth. We experience a mixture of feelings when it comes to our kids….
